As an international student, or a U.S. citizen living abroad, there are additional steps that need to be taken to submit an application to Lehigh. Please find details of that information below. Additionally, since you may not have had the opportunity to visit Lehigh's campus, we encourage you to check out our virtual tour to determine if Lehigh is the right fit for you.

We also encourage you to get a first hand, international student perspective of Lehigh, by learning more about our LU Diplomats (PDF). Please feel free to reach out to these students with any Lehigh-related questions!

APPLYING TO LEHIGH AS AN INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT

Lehigh accepts the Common Application—follow the procedures on the Common Application Website. To see all of our requirements forms and deadlines, please use the Application Toolbox. If you are a non-citizen, be sure to indicate this when using the toolbox to see all of the additional forms and requirements necessary to apply to Lehigh; any student whose first language is not English should indicate this to learn about TOEFL score requirements.

The cost to submit an application is USD $70.00. You may request a fee waiver by submitting a letter with your application explaining why you are requesting the waiver, accompanied by a letter of support from your secondary school college/guidance counselor or head of school.

CURRICULUM: Applicants must be completing or have completed the equivalent of 12 years of education (primary and secondary) or the program of study that leaves them eligible for admission to university-level study in the educational system in which they are enrolled. For example, students who are completing or who have only completed O level or GCSE/IGCSE study are not eligible to apply and should do so when they are completing the final year of A level study, or the equivalent.

TESTING: All testing requirements needed to apply to Lehigh can be found in the Application Toolbox. To ensure full consideration of your latest test results, please submit them to Lehigh before the application deadline. Exam results submitted after the application deadline may not be received in time to be considered when applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Please plan accordingly so that you register and complete the exams with sufficient time for: the testing agency to score your exam, you to request the testing agency submit those results to Lehigh University; and Lehigh to process the results before reviewing your application. Official score reports should be sent to Lehigh by the testing agency. Emailed, faxed and photocopied scores are not official and will not be accepted.

OFFICIAL TOEFL SCORES: Must be submitted directly from ETS. All applicants whose first language is not English must take the TOEFL or IELTS.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT: Lehigh grants advanced placement and credit for most Advanced Placement (AP) examinations completed with a score of 4 or 5; for International Baccalaureate Higher-Level examinations completed with a score of 5, 6 or 7 (except for IB HL Physics, which will not be accepted for credit); and for Advanced Level (A Level) examinations completed with a score of A or B.

Lehigh grants advanced placement and credit for the SAT II Chemistry examination if completed with a score of 750 or higher and for SAT II modern language examinations if completed with scores of 600 or higher.

FINANCIAL AID: Lehigh offers financial aid to international students on a very limited basis. For more information about financial aid for international students, please visit the financial aid page for information for non-U.S. citizens. If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien living abroad, and you want to apply for federal financial aid, you must have a U.S. Social Security Number. You should apply for this at the local U.S. embassy or consulate as soon as possible.
