Before applying, please read the instructions below that fit your situation.
Entering Freshman Students
  • Complete the University of Alabama application for admission. If you are not applying online, submit your print application with a check or money order for $40 made payable to The University of Alabama. The application fee is nonrefundable. Return your print application to The University of Alabama, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Box 870132, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0132.
  • If you would like to be considered for scholarships, complete the University of Alabamaapplication for scholarships at mybama.ua.edu by December 15. (Step-by-step instructions for completing the scholarship application)
  • Have your ACT or SAT score(s) sent to us. Our ACT code is 0052 and our SAT code is 1830. Information on these tests is available from your high-school counselor or from the test services: ACT, Box 451, Iowa City, IA 52243; SAT, College Board ATP, Box 592, Princeton, NJ 08541.
  • Have your most recent official high-school transcript sent to The University of Alabama, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Box 870132, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0132.
  • Complete all of the preceding steps by February 1 for priority admissions consideration for fall semester.
The majority of successful applicants had grades in the "B" range or higher, and they had combined SAT scores 1350 or higher and ACT composite scores of 18 or better. Higher test scores and grades obviously improve your chances of getting an acceptance letter, and an "A" GPA and above average standardized test scores nearly guarantee admission assuming you have fulfilled Alabama's academic requirements.

What are the SAT and ACT requirements for students admitted to The University of Alabama and what score do you need to get in? The tables below describe the SAT and ACT test score percentile profile of the Fall 2013 freshman class.
Data indicates that The University of Alabama regularly accepts students with ACT's of 22 and above. We estimate the school accepting minimim ACT composite scores around 18 in some instances. Students submitting a score at or exceeding the estimated average ACT composite of 26 should be in the upper half of appliants and students with 30 and up have the best chances.
Likewise, reporting indicates the school consistently takes SAT composite scores down to 1470 on a 2400 scale, below which admission should be considered a reach.
